Writing Your Auto-Responder Templates
Craft the first automated message a lead receives — the one with the best chance of actually getting read.
One Template Per Lead Source
Every CRM allows a separate autoresponder per lead source, and it's worth the setup time — a generic, one-size-fits-all reply undersells every source that isn't identical.
Keep It Short, With a Direct Call to Action
An autoresponder is the first email a lead sees, and often the only one they'll fully read. Keep it to a paragraph or two, with a specific call to action ("Call now," "Visit us today"). The Visa reward card works well as that call to action — both to generate the original lead and, for many of our most successful dealers, again as the reason to book an appointment.
Include Your "Why Buy Here"
List what actually makes your dealership different — buying experience, inventory size, location, or something included at no charge like a lifetime warranty or free oil changes — and turn that into a closing statement you can reuse across templates.
Tailor the Tone to the Source
A third-party lead that was also sold to a competing store needs a template that makes the case for your dealership specifically. An intice-sourced lead is different: that customer already decided they want to visit, often specifying exactly when. So that autoresponder can focus more on scheduling the appointment than on convincing them to choose you.
Check Your Understanding
Answer all three questions correctly to unlock your certificate.
1. Why should each lead source have its own autoresponder template?
2. What should an effective autoresponder's call to action look like?
3. How should an autoresponder for an intice-sourced lead differ from one for a third-party lead?
